Jill Kubatko
Public Relations, Education
Jill graduated with an associate’s degree at Anne Arundel Community College
and a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Towson University, both
in Maryland.
During her journalism career she has had the opportunity to work in radio,
be an assistant to the producer at a cable television station, work at a
local CBS affiliate news station as well as create 30-second public service
announcements on local television for clients as a Public Relations Manager
with an advertising agency.
Through her various positions with a large (500,000+ subscribers) daily
newspaper in metropolitan Baltimore, Jill wrote features, news and sports
all while working in a fast-paced “breaking news” professional environment.
Some interesting assignments included spending the day with fitness guru
Richard Simmons, helping cover Hurricane Isabel, helping Pulitzer
prizewinning journalists’ investigations, writing a nationally syndicated
recipe column and reporting cover stories and profiles.
Throughout Jill’s career in public relations and news, she has been
privileged to work on each side of the fence. Working in public relations
has given her a strong understanding of the need for putting the right
message out at the right time. She understands what is necessary to promote
the client’s interest, as well as provide what the media needs to fulfill
its obligations to its readership.
Jill also spent time with the Boys and Girls Club of the Casa Grande Valley
in Arizona and wrote grants, press releases and updated the Web site for the
non-profit. Jill was on the advisory board of the Wellness Community in
Severna Park, Md., a non-profit cancer support system associated with the
late comedian Gilda Radner. Jill also volunteered as the newsletter editor
for the Entrepreneurs Exchange, an organization for small business owners.
Currently Jill is the
Valley Life and Food Editor for a newspaper in a growing community in Arizona.
Jill is working in collaboration
with HAMER to publish a children's book about manta rays. Proceeds
from the book will support HAMER's manta ray research. |
